Buying a home through RebuildUS
On RebuildUS, you can buy a home two ways: cash or seller-financing. Everyone understands cash (at least we hope so). If you've got the cash to buy a home outright, welcome home! If not, there's hope – seller-financing.
Here's how seller-financing works: instead of borrowing money from a bank to buy a home, you're borrowing a home and paying for it in installments. The only cash that trades hands is your down payment (usually quite small) and your monthly payment (often below that of a comparable rental!).
With seller-financing, you have all the traditional rights of home ownership. Paint it, fix it up, make your home the envy of your neighbors. In case of default, the property returns to the seller (just like it would to a bank), but otherwise, anything you invest in the home is yours. Have you ever heard of such a thing? It's been around for almost as long as there have been houses! It's been a popular and long-standing way for homes to sell from one family member to another. Maybe we should call start calling it "family-style."
To apply for seller-financing, submit your information to the seller of the property, by using the button next to the property you're interested in. Let them know why you'd be a good fit for the home.
HINT: A steady source of income is far more important than your credit score. If you don't have a steady job, find a co-signer who does.
